In this body of work, Alexandros Vasmoulakis extends his visual language beyond the two-dimensional plane, creating immersive dialogues between painted works and sculptural forms. These sculptural elements—either ceramic pieces crafted by the artist or assemblages of found materials, often sourced from carnival remnants—are not conceived as separate objects but as vital extensions of the paintings themselves. They do not stand in contrast to the canvas; rather, they merge with it, forming a unified system of expression.
This integration is rooted in the artist’s ongoing exploration of non-duality and the interconnectedness of all things. Just as his handmade wallpapers dissolve the boundary between canvas and environment, the sculptural components in this body of work dissolve the separation between medium and object, between the visual and the tactile. The painting and sculpture become mutually dependent—neither acting as support, frame, nor companion, but rather as equal parts of a single material body
